The main objective of the ministry is to see lost sinners come to a saving knowledge of Christ and to train them to become Disciples of Jesus. In doing so, many inmates experience a changed life promised by God in His Word, the Bible, which drastically aides in the overall rehabilitation process of making these men and women more useful members of society.
NETS Prison Ministry ministers to State and Federal prisoners with the gospel of Christ through team sports and biblical discipleship. NETS stands for “Netcaster’s Evangelistic Team Sports.” The ministry uses Christian volunteers of like faith and practice to make up the specific ministry teams. The ministry is broken into four main ministry teams:
NETS Prison Ministry conducts on-site crusades in prisons during regularly scheduled yard time. The crusade is made up of 3 basic elements, which include team sports fellowship with a specifically selected team of inmates, gospel presentation, and inmate response time. The gospel presentation and inmate response time makes up approximately 30 minutes of time between two 1-hour team competitions.
The presentation is conducted by open air preaching of the Word of God. Inmates have the option of staying for the gospel presentation. During the response time, inmates by their own volition can share several specific spiritual needs including, but not limited to, making a personal declaration of faith and repentance in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, make specific prayer requests, and/or other expressions of spiritual need.
In addition to specific spiritual responses by the inmates, the inmates can elect to provide their corrections identification number for the purpose of receiving continuing spiritual discipleship via letter correspondence. NETS Prison Ministry maintains these contacts and logs their individual progress of spiritual growth and sanctification.
